AFTER DEATH: A Live Score by Kevin Lynch

Sunday, March 4, musician Kevin Lynch (Strange Rivals, Grooms) will provide a uniquely brooding, romantic live score to Yevgeni Bauer’s After Death.

Infused with gothic-leaning symbolist influences, Bauer’s films represent some of the darkest, most accomplished psychological dramas of silent cinema. After Death, adapted from a story by Ivan Turgenev, concerns a student whose romantic fixation with a beautiful young stage actress deepens after her suicide. Bauer’s staple themes of decadence, obsession and death are expressed through intricately choreographed cinematography and rich mise-en-scène that a century on maintain the power to enrapture viewers.

Kevin Lynch is a Berklee College of Music graduate who plays drums in Brooklyn bands Grooms and Strange Rivals. He is also a composer and illustrator. Sunday’s live soundtrack will comprise electronic instruments, loops and effects.
